Questions
Sixteen questions in three groups. Where an answer would state a policy this site does not publish, it says so instead of inventing one.
Before you come
Do I need dance experience to attend?
The festival does not publish a skill-level requirement for any session. What each event does publish is its schedule and the styles each workshop covers.
If you want to know whether a particular session suits your experience, ask us at alocubanoboulderfest@gmail.com.
Do I need to bring a partner?
No partner requirement is published for any session. If a workshop on a schedule is not marked otherwise, ask us before you buy and we will confirm it for that session.
What styles are taught?
The Cuban forms the festival teaches, plays and dances are Cuban Salsa, Rumba, Son Cubano, Timba, Afro-Cuban and Reparto.
Which of them a given edition covers is on that event’s schedule, and the styles each instructor teaches are listed on that event’s artists page.
Where is the festival held?
Avalon Ballroom, 6185 Arapahoe Road, Boulder, CO 80303. Where a session runs at a different venue, that venue is named on the ticket itself and on the schedule.
What should I wear, and what about shoes?
There is no dress code and no published footwear guidance. If you want to know what the floor is like before you pack, write to us and we will tell you.
What time should I arrive?
Session start times are on the schedule for each event, and every time this site publishes is Mountain Time. No separate doors-open time is published; check in before the first session you are attending.
Tickets and payment
Can I get a refund?
Ticket purchases are non-refundable, but every ticket is transferable. You can transfer yours to someone else from the My Tickets page by updating the attendee information.
If we have to cancel an event, all ticket holders receive a full refund. The full policy is on the About page and governs.
What payment methods do you accept?
Card payments are handled by Stripe, and we also accept PayPal and Venmo. Venmo appears as an option inside PayPal checkout and is available to US accounts.
How do I get my ticket?
Your ticket is emailed to you as soon as your payment is confirmed, and it also lives on the My Tickets page. You can add it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet from there.
If the email has not arrived, check your spam folder first, then contact us and we will resend it.
How does check-in work?
We scan your ticket once at the door and give you a wristband for the event. Each ticket scans a single time, so keep your wristband on — it is what gets you back in.
The name on my ticket is wrong. Can I change it?
Yes. Update the attendee information on the My Tickets page. This is the same route you would use to pass a ticket to someone else.
At the event
Is the venue accessible?
The site does not publish an accessibility guide for the venue, so we will not summarise one here. Tell us your access need before the event — mobility, seating, sensory or anything else — and we will tell you exactly what to expect and what we can arrange.
Will there be photos and video?
Yes. Photographs and video from past events are published in our galleries. No opt-out procedure is published; if you would rather not appear, tell a member of the team at check-in.
What behaviour is expected at the event?
The Code of Conduct on the About page applies to everyone at the event, and it is the statement that governs.
Can I volunteer or perform?
Yes to both. There is a volunteer form on the About page, and artist and instructor enquiries reach us through the Contact page.
Where does my donation go?
A Lo Cubano Boulder Fest is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 39-4269388. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You can give on the Donate page.
